Brain Fog & Exhaustion
Do you ever feel like your brain is constantly “on”… but you’re still exhausted?
Forgetting things.
Taking longer to think clearly.
Struggling to focus.
Your brain racing… yet you feel constantly tired.
Many of us assume this is just normal life.
I did too.
Recently, a few friends told me:
"You look tired… you don’t seem present."
My response?
"I feel fine."
But after listening to a podcast on brain health, I had a realization.
My brain wasn’t fine.
It was operating in survival mode because of constant stimulation.
One concept really stood out:
👉 Our brains need boredom.
Moments where nothing is happening.
Moments where the brain can decompress.
Remember the boredom we experienced as kids or teenagers?
Today, that’s almost impossible.
Our phones fill every spare moment — scrolling, notifications, information, stimulation.
So I’ve started taking conscious steps to retrain my brain for clarity and focus.
Here are a few habits I’m implementing:
1️⃣ Sleep quality
Not just 7–8 hours. True restorative sleep so the brain can detox and regenerate.
Couple of changes: no screens 1 hour before bed. And do things that slow me down.
2️⃣ Daily movement
At least a 30-minute walk. Movement helps regulate cortisol and reset the nervous system.
3️⃣ Intentional mornings
Feeding my brain and body with nourishing thoughts and foods while setting clear intentions for the day.
4️⃣ Single-tasking
For years I wore multitasking like a badge of honor.
But I’ve realized it contributes to mental exhaustion.
Even in my dance classes, I noticed how much my brain had been trained to do many things at once.
The truth is:
Brain fog and exhaustion are often the result of years of overstimulation.
Our devices and fast-paced lifestyles create constant dopamine hits — quickly followed by cortisol spikes.
This keeps the brain stuck in survival mode.
If your head feels heavy…
If your concentration is fading…
If you feel constantly rushed and not fully present…
It may be time to retrain your brain to relax.
New patterns create clarity.
And clarity leads to a healthier mind.
