Take your seat!!
I spent two years getting punched in the stomach.
That's what cold calling felt like. Every "no" confirmed what I secretly believed: I was an imposition. I was interrupting. I needed to earn my way into the conversation.
But here's the thing I couldn't see: when I met people face-to-face, my yes rate was 95%!
So the problem wasn't my value. It wasn't my offer. It wasn't even my ability to influence.
The problem was that I was asking for permission to be the peer I already was.
I was crafting polite, accommodating messages when I should have been sending confident ones with deadlines. I was positioning myself below the people I was calling when I should have been showing up as the expert they needed.
The shift wasn't about learning a new skill. It was about unlearning the belief that I had to earn my seat at the table.
I already had the seat. I just needed to sit in it.
If you've been grinding, hustling, white-knuckling your way to outcomes and wondering why it feels so hard… ask yourself this: are you operating like the peer you already are, or are you still asking for permission?
Because the people who need what you have? They're not looking for someone who's polite. They're looking for someone who's certain.
What seat are you ready to sit in? Tell me in the comments.
